Netflix has given us a lot of things. Flexibility and variety when it comes to entertainment, a catchy phrase to describe ‘relaxing’ and an easy, predictive interface. And while it has made news recently for its performance in the stock market, we get so much for only $10 per month.
While positive at first glance, this may also very well pose a challenge in the way we view and value services as consumers. Every year, Netflix invests more than 10 billion dollars into new content, movies, and show ideas. All of which can be accessed for a low price and without a long-term commitment.
Similarly, an Amazon Prime annual membership of just over $120 gives access to free shipping on over 100 million products and unlimited streaming of movies and TV episodes on their Prime Video service.
During the pandemic, Netflix was responsible for changing the way people consume content and had a major impact on the future of movie theatres. So much so, that various theater chains announced subscription plans to entice moviegoers to leave the comfort of their homes.
For event organizers, the Netflix effect (a condition where consumers expect a lot a huge catalog of benefits in relation to the price they pay) has created a situation that, to justify a higher ticket, it is expected from event attendees that the event fee must include added perks, benefits and extras to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
In short, attendees expect a lot for the price they pay – but how can the experience be beneficial for both?
Consider offering VIP experiences or unique opportunities as part of your ticket structure. For example, backstage access or rehearsal access - believe it or not, many people like to see “how the sausage is made”. Another example that we are seeing more of is including a limited edition NFT for the event.
Here are just a few examples of increasing your event’s value:
-
In-event “Dasher” services - have you ever wanted someone to stop at the Starbucks in the venue lobby, but you’re stuck in a conference room? An event dasher could bring that coffee to you.
-
Skip the Line services - designated check-in and on-site event staff
-
Event concierge services - to make recommendations, reservations, and transportation plans
-
Designated restrooms
-
One premium reserved price level 1 seat, the best view of the stage
-
Exclusive VIP gift item
All About Presentation can help you with a pricing strategy that adds revenue to your event’s bottom line and create ticket benefits so rewarding that event-goers are happy to pay any price.
