FILM DIRECTOR + CREATIVE TEAM LEADER

All About Presentation is seeking a film director and creative team leader. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, production, and distribution of compelling stories and event-driven communication through film, email, social media, and photography. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in driving the success of our creative projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and innovative solutions that align with our brand vision and objectives, and fostering a collaborative and thriving creative team.

The right candidate has a background in visual work (including film and video) and must have a strong portfolio. When required by the project, the film director and creative team leader must be willing to work non-standard hours (including weekends), and understand key business concepts such as project management, budgeting, developing and following established work processes.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM:

  • Communications

    • Work with the event planning team to develop an email and social media marketing strategy that aligns with the event's goals and objectives. Determine the target audience, messaging, frequency, and desired outcomes for campaigns

    • Develop campaigns to promote events, increase registration, and drive attendance. Craft persuasive messages highlighting the event's unique value proposition, speakers, agenda, and networking opportunities

    • Write compelling and engaging copy that effectively communicates event details, benefits, and calls to action 

    • Collaborate with the design team to create visually appealing templates and graphics that reflect the event's branding and key messages

    • Manage the event's email database, segment the email list based on relevant criteria, and ensure its accuracy and compliance with data protection regulations

    • Utilize email marketing and social media tools to automate the delivery of content based on predefined triggers or schedule them for specific dates and times. Set up workflows and automation sequences to deliver targeted and timely messages

    • Review and provide feedback on creative concepts, designs, copywriting, and other deliverables to ensure high quality and brand consistency for digital and printed deliverables

    • Oversee the creation of high-quality and engaging content for social media platforms, including text, images, videos, and graphics. Ensure the content aligns with the brand's voice, messaging, and visual identity

    • Work with the marketing team to effectively develop content for internal marketing purposes

    Film and Video

    • Develop a clear understanding of the story, characters, themes, and desired artistic vision for a project

    • Provide input and feedback during script development, offering creative suggestions to enhance the narrative and visual elements

    • Plan and organize all aspects of pre-production, including casting, location scouting, production design, costume design, and scheduling

    • Develop a visual style and create a shot list that aligns with the film's artistic vision

    • Communicate effectively with actors and talent by providing clear direction to guide their performances and ensure they bring the desired emotions and authenticity to their roles

    • Foster a collaborative and creative environment on set, encouraging open dialogue and creative exploration with the cast and crew

    • Ensure the technical aspects, such as lighting, camera movement, and framing, align with the film's vision

    • Edit, sound design, and manage other post-production tasks to shape the final film

    • Manage the film's budget and resources effectively, ensuring that production stays on schedule and within financial constraints

    Leadership

    • Assign projects, tasks, and responsibilities to team members, considering their skills, strengths, and development goals

    • Participate in leadership meetings and deliver team status reports

    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, inspiring and motivating team members to deliver their best work

    • Provide guidance, feedback, mentorship, and identify skill gaps and training plans to support the professional growth of individual team members

    • Plan, prioritize, and manage creative projects, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables align with strategic goals

    • Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide creative solutions that meet their objectives

    • Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning

    • Participate in the recruitment and selection process, identifying and attracting top creative talent that aligns with the team's needs and the organization's culture

    • Provide on-site event support when needed

EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Bachelor’s degree - graphic design, film, marketing, communications degree a plus

  • 5 years of experience in the creative industry (ad agency experience is a big plus)

  • An excellent reel is a must

  • Proficiency in visual storytelling, composition, and cinematic techniques

  • Understanding of motion graphics, animation, 3D, editing, and directing

  • Extensive knowledge of the filmmaking process, from pre-production to post-production

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Illustrator, Premiere, and Photoshop)

  • Knowledge and experience with various camera equipment and techniques

  • Canva

  • G Suite (sheets, slides, docs, drive, calendar, mail)

  • Podio

  • MailChimp

  • Constant Contact

  • Hootsuite

  • Social Media Platforms

SKILLS

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, interpersonal, and inter-departmental

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks at the same time, without compromising on quality or focus

  • Have outstanding ability to express empathy, understanding and emotion through visual content

  • Visually convey complex concepts and data.

  • Strong ability to interpret client needs, present ideas, articulate, and iterate design choices.

  • Being open to critiques and using them as opportunities for growth.

  • Keeping up with design trends and being willing to learn and adapt to new tools or methods.

  • Taking initiative and pursuing continuous learning opportunities or personal projects to enhance skills.

  • Organizing tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring projects are completed in an orderly manner.

Work Hours: Standard 8:00a - 5:00p, with extended hours required in preparation for film shoots or when events need additional support.
